Pair Excellence! Gourmets & Gourmands mingles with food and wine.

It is that time of the year again when Gourmets & Gourmands mingles with food and wine. This year chef's from 15 restaurants, the South Africa Chefs Association (SACA) , the local Chaine de Rotisseurs and the Francois Ferreira Academy of Food will each prepare a four-course meal for 180 guests on the school premises.

The themes of the Gourmets and Gourmands vary and this year the theme will be "Roaring Twenties", with guests dressing up in the sophisticated style of that bygone era. Classic cars provided by the South Cape Old Car Club will add a touch of class to the setting.

Restaurants and wine farms are already putting the final touches to their menu pairings, according to a famous foodie, pairing is an expression of a lifelong exploration of wine and food, an endeavor of passion; a passion to be shared. The popularity of food and wine pairings has increased in recent years, so much so that it has become commonplace to adding wine pairing as something special to the usual dining experience.

So, whilst the decadence of the evening's events is festive, there is more to it as the funds raised will go towards the learners of and fantastic work done at the Carpe Diem School.

N3TC Karkloof Adventure Quest

 

Be the first to discover the New Balance "treasure" in this multi-sport, adventure quest event. Traversing pristine mistbelt forest and grasslands of the Karkloof Nature Reserve, participants can expect some challenging ascents, swooping single-track and whizzing descents.

A truly multi-discipline adventure event with mountain biking, trail running / hiking, canopy ziplining, basic navigation, clue-finding / problem solving and obstacle activities in store.

In the morning you register and get your maps. The race starts with some simple navigation exercises, to get you warmed up and to split the teams. Then you embark on a trail run through the beautiful Karkloof Bush, collecting checkpoints, following your map. You'll return to the transition and get on your bike, for a stunning ride over the local farms and single track in the area. some small tasks, like road blocks, await you. The most time you can lose is 15 minutes. Some awesome adventures follow, plus some amazing sponsored prizes and lucky draws for all competitors.

Event Distance: 40-50 km / 4.5-7 hrs
Disciplines: trail running / hiking, mountain biking, canopy ziplining, problem solving and other obstacle activities. Basic navigation skills required.
Team Format: Pairs. Mixed & Same Sex Categories - U19, Open, and Masters Categories.

Spar Ladies 10km and 5km Challenge

The annual my SPAR Women's 5 / 10km challenge in association with Jacaranda 94.2, takes place this year with approximately 25 000 participants, with the race starting in West Street at 14h00.

Please also note that a part of South Street will also be closed for traffic from 14h00 and that the Tshwane Metro Police will be assisting us to ensure that traffic, although impaired, will still flow as smoothly possible.

This premier event on the Johannesburg Jazz calendar will take place at 6 venues in Newtown.

Canon SA EXPO

The dates for Canon SA’s forthcoming Canon SA Expo have been announced, as have the themes and prizes for this year’s accompanying competition.

The expo will be held from Friday30 November to Sunday 2 December 2012 at the Sandton Convention Centre  and will be open from 10am to 6pm daily. As before, entrance will be free, and Canon’s wide range of consumer and selected business solutions will be showcased.

However, Canon announced that this year the expo will include more guest speaker sessions than last year, with two sessions running simultaneously throughout the day on all three days. ate of 2012 Canon SA Expo

Come and join in for a bit of fun!

The Oude Molen MTB Challenge takes place in Grabouw and offers riders a variety of challenging routes thanks to course designer Hendrivo Burger.

The 60km race will offer you to full package with a swinging jeep track to single tracks, climbs, rocky patches and beach sections (which are unavoidable in Grabouw). Although the course is tough you will be rewarded with the spectacular views of the Elgin Valley.

There is also a 35km and 10km race which provide riders of all levels with a great race.

Nando's JHB Comedy Festival

 

The Nando's Comedy Festival takes place in Cape Town, Durbs and JHB and is sure to bring the house down.

The UN Comedy Show brings you seven days with seven comedians on one stage and a guarantee of non-stop laughter. These comedians come from all over the international stage and talented performers Pablo Francisco and Bobby Lee will be back this year (an age restriction of 16 applies to these shows). Shows take place at Teatro Monte Casino.

The Comedy Showdown is a competition to find the best new South African talent. These shows take place at Parkers Comedy and Jive also in the Monte Casino complex.

Hey, another weekend here and for some reason I feel that Spring is around the corner, oh well, the most important lesson I would like to share with everyone is to be thankful for anything and everything that we go through as it presents opportunity for character to be realised. We thank the man above for life, what a bliss, and we continue to ask for his blessings. Enid Pretorius Properties Trail Walk

 

Nature lovers are invited to enjoy a trail walk along the perimeter of St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis. The walk starts at the Village Centre and proceeds to the Granny's Pool, Port St Francis, Shark Point and the Cape St Francis main beach to the lighthouse, from there via the wild side to Mosterts Hoek, The Dunes, the St Francis Links and back to the Village Centre via the St Francis Bay Golf Course.

It is 26km of pure bliss, enjoying the beauty of St Francis at your own pace. This is not a race, however trail runners are welcome. Two shorter options are also possible - to or from the lighthouse. Carry a water bottle or backpack which you can refill at one of the four water points and check stations.
